Returning to our stage for the second time; renowned poet, writer, director, and performer, Kae Tempest, is taking to our stage on the 22nd of April equipped with their fourth album: The Line Is A Curve. We’ll leave you to guess/remember what that’s named after. Following the success of her past LPs – The Book of Traps and Lessons, Let Them Eat Chaos and Everybody Down – it became clear to Kae that this one needed to be more communicative than the others; a clear representation of the recent movement of times and our communal struggles.
Also having performed on our stage before and set to return in 2022 are the folk duo: Bear’s Den, who have recently announced their new album, Blue Hours. Multi-award-winning, this pair have played a part in the resurgence of Americana across the modern, 21st-century music audience. Their track, Above The Clouds Of Pompeii, even scooped them a much-coveted Ivor Novello nomination. The last time they performed amongst our beams, they entered the crowd part way through their set, completely immersing themselves in the audience. Perhaps they’ll do it again? You’ll have to see, on the 22nd of May.
Another new album and date on our stage announcement has come from American experimental pop supremos, Animal Collective, who have announced their first album in more than half a decade. Time Skiffs “feels like listening in on a conversation among four old friends, just as it felt during their inchoate early days or their Strawberry Jam heyday.” So of course, when we hear/see them on the 22nd of November, we’re expecting quite a lot from the act that brought us the iconic indie anthems including My Girls, Man Of Oil, and Summertime Clothes.
Ok, no more album announcements now just simple an incredibly special club night lineup taking over our venue on the 26th of February, featuring not only Leeds-born record producer and DJ, Nightmares On Wax but also; local DJ collective Horse Meat Disco; iconic experimental DJ/performer, KiNK and; DJ, vocalist, producer and stalwart of East London’s Queer scene: Michelle Manetti!
