Interpol are one of the most important guitar bands to have emerged from the U.S.A. in the last two decades. Forming in the late ‘90s they were leaders in the New York post-punk revival scene – merging staccato bass rhythms, darkly brooding atmospherics and deeply introspective lyrics.

The group were an instant hit in Manchester upon the release of debut album ‘Turn On The Bright Lights’ in 2002 – a city with an historic love of post-punk, with the likes of Joy Division, The Fall, and Magazine coursing through its veins. The album was a worldwide success, making it into Pitchfork, NME, Q, and MOJO’s top ten albums of the year.

Four albums later Interpol have continued to reaffirm their initial success, time and again releasing quality crepuscular music that’s seen them rise in stature with every release. Only this summer the group performed to thousands on the other stage at Glastonbury.

Now, after a brief hiatus in which frontman Paul Banks worked on solo material under the alias Julian Plenti, they’re back with fifth record ‘El Pintor’, their first work in four years. The record is due on 8th September and we’re absolutely delighted to have them performing at Albert Hall after a three year break from touring.
