Remember the good old days? Dusty Springfield’s sumptuous soul scores, Billie Holliday’s intimate jazz vocals, and Little Richard’s inimitable rockabilly jives – well Dublin-born talent Imelda May takes inspiration from these iconic touchstones in a way that’ll have you believing the best is yet to come.
We’re thrilled to be hosting her retro talents at the Albert Hall – an artist who’s every release already sounds like a classic. Over four album’s Imelda has smashed the Irish charts and made a sizeable impact on the rest of the UK too. Third album ‘Mayhem’ won Ireland’s RTE record of the year, made its way into the UK Top Ten, and saw plenty of interest across the pond in the US, plus Jools Holland declared himself a fan and asked Imelda to play again too!
April saw the release of fourth album ‘Tribal’, another sure-fire success that’ll resonate around the walls of the Albert Hall. Anyone who’s a fan of Etta James, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, long-lost dusty vinyls from the ‘50s – this one’s for you.
