Coming to our venue on the 27th of May – all the way over from the hometown of jazz, New Orleans – are the Hot 8 Brass Band! Ever transcending so many genres from jazz through to funk, hip hop, rap, and its New Orleans’ local variation, “bounce music”, they are a strong, truly rhythmic collective, formed in 1995, who bring street performances and music to an international audience.

For this incoming tour, they’re honouring the recent passing of Bennie Pete, the beloved co-founder and sousaphone player for the outfit. It’s The Bossman Tour 2023, paying tribute to his “galvanizing force” as a “leader, teacher, and mentor”. Fellow bandmates add that “Bennie was an inspiration to [the] band and to many other musicians, and the entire musical and cultural community.”. The dates will celebrate the late Bennie’s “greatest wish.. that New Orleans culture lives on for future generations”.
