It’s a huge honour to have one of the UK’s most influential shoegaze bands, Ride, headlining Albert Hall 20-years since their last ever live appearance. The band are returning for a short run of selected dates and we’re thrilled to be hosting them in Manchester.

The group are famed for their shatteringly loud, droning neo-psychedelic wall of sound – a trembling distortion akin to the likes of My Bloody Valentine but with a simpler more melodic approach. Iconic label Creation Records picked them up on the strength of blistering live shows in ’89 and their debut ‘Ride EP’ came out at the end of the year gaining praise from the British music press and reaching the lower echelons of the UK chart. Second EP ‘Play’, further climbed the charts and their third ‘Fall’ entered the Top 20.

First album, ‘Nowhere’, peaked at number 14 in the charts, and second album ‘Going Blank Again’, produced their first top ten single. Initially bound tight as an insular band, Ride’s gates had blown open and the world flooded in but it wasn’t the stuff of radio dreams. Having been AWOL during the first tremors of Britpop, Ride came back as a ball of confusion. With wives, babies, and new homes the four now had lives of their own and developed their own agendas away from the band ethos.

Now, they’re back, re-energised and ready to rock again.
